This quote is an interesting statement. When asked this question, it actually has a lot of meaning to it. At the beginning of a relationship you have no idea what the person is really like. However, after time passes and you know each other better, you begin to grow into the person that the other person truly wants you to be.

For example, if someone who was close to us in childhood grew up to be someone that we do not like, we would probably never write them posthaste. However, if they changed to fit us better, then we would definitely write them posthaste.
